Hi, I’m Sarah and I’m a homebody.

As a little girl, I rearranged my bedroom constantly and any other space my mom would let me have free-rein over. For me, there has always been something about a fresh layout that makes me breathe easier.

The creative side of me thought I'd go to art school someday. The side of me that loves caring for others pulled me to nursing school instead. But not before I got a degree in Family Studies and Human Services). After school, I went on to work as a neonatal intensive care nurse at Children’s Mercy for 10 years. I’ve been doing the stay at home Mom thing, but I’m ready to find a space that brings together the skills on both sides of my brain.

At the hospital, I learned how to walk into incredibly overwhelming situations, figure out what matters most and help people feel a little less alone - especially when life feels completely out of control. At home and in my creative pursuits, I’ve learned just how much lighting, finishes, texture, functionality but most of all - real life design, makes all the difference.

Ultimately, we all work hard and your homes should return the favor.

I'm here for the awkward room you don’t know what to do with, the playroom that took over the living room (and the kitchen and maybe your bedroom), the living space that doesn’t make sense… the feeling that something needs to change but you just don’t know where to start.

Here’s what I want you to hear: you don't have to know. That's my job and for whatever reason, where both sides of my brain (my creative side and my helping side) intersect and absolutely love to get busy.

I'll bring fresh eyes, practical solutions, an extra set of hands (specifically, my husband), and probably a few strong opinions about where your couch should go.

I'll help you make your home work better using what you already have—and hopefully leave you feeling a whole lot lighter when I go.

Being part of other’s transformations is an honor I truly find reward in. Because, I've always felt most connected to people when I'm helping them breathe easier.

🧡 Welcome to Make Room KC.
